Rod Pittam specializes in landscapes and architectural subjects in oils and water-based media in a blend of realistic and impressionistic styles. His work ranges from smaller studies to large canvases and frequently involves structures and their juxtaposition with the surrounding environment. Rod's work has been commissioned by corporate and private collectors, and specified by interior designers and art consultants. He has created large interior mural projects and outdoor murals in situ. Local and national publications have featured his work and it has been displayed in designer showhouses. Since 1987, Rod has exhibited in solo gallery shows and has won awards in juried art festivals.
Discipline imposed by many years of graphic experience in the commercial world has led to a natural adaptability in collaborating with corporate clients, galleries, and design firms on specific projects such as architectural renderings, historical or local scenes, and private home illustrations in addition to his fine art work.
Rod's use of composition, proportion, and color is evidenced by these many years of graphics experience with display, exhibit, and sales conference design along with audio-visual presentations for major corporations in the U.K. and the U.S.A.
Rod has created artwork for charitable contributions for many organizations, including the Atlanta High Museum of Art, American Society of Interior Designers, Habitat for Humanity, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, the Olmstead Parks Society, and numerous local charities. For the past thirteen years, he has been creating the architectural illustrations for the Historic Druid Hills Home and Garden Tour.
